Calvary Chapel Raynham and Oakes Ames Memorial Hall Wedding | Boston, MA | Abbie & Shawn
Abbie and I were roommates our freshman year of college and have been friends since day one. During that time, I was growing my photography skills and she was always one of my biggest supporters. We had many conversations about me photographing her wedding someday, and this was long before she even met Shawn! Fast forward five Augusts later and I’m out in Massachusetts, camera in hand, watching her walk down the aisle of the church she grew up in to marry the love of her life. It was one of the coolest full-circle moments, seeing so many dreams come to fruition and thinking about how far we’ve come.
From the first moment of the day, you could feel just how much this wedding was not only about Abbie and Shawn tying the knot, but also about honoring and celebrating all the people who got them to this moment. With friends and family who cheered them on all day long, not even East Coast humidity could take the smiles off of this bride and groom’s faces.
Abbie grew up in this church with her dad as the pastor, so there was never a doubt in her mind about where she wanted to get married. The whole thing was so special, from her dad officiating the ceremony to the memorial candles for loved ones in heaven. Going from one historic venue to another, the reception was held at the beautiful Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, which, with its lush gardens and towering spires, felt like something out of a fairytale. We ate wood-fired pizza, took some gorgeous photos, and danced the night away—the people knew how to bring the fun!
As Abbie’s dad said in his speech, “Only Abbie would go all the way to from Massachusetts to Minnesota for college, and then marry someone from California who she met in Costa Rica.” It was a true joy to document a small piece in a love story so full of adventure.
